Liberia Adoption

This program is: open, travel warnings
Note: The U.S. State Department has issued travel warnings, advising U.S. citizens to postpone non-essential travel to Liberia due to safety concerns.
In 2008, U.S. citizens adopted approximately 249 children from Liberia. Children available for adoption include boys and girls, generally 4 years old and older, relatively healthy and special needs. These children reside in orphanages.
See other Liberia Adoption Agencies.
Travel required: The U.S. State Department information on Liberia adoptions indicates that petitioners must be present at the court hearing, however agencies authorized to handle adoptions in Liberia indicate that travel is not required, that adoptions may be completed by proxy and the child escorted to the U.S. following finalization.
Convention Country?: No
Singles accepted: Yes
Other: The court must be satisfied that the "moral and temporal interests" of the child will be satisfied by the adoption.
